Implant Treatment

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root made of titanium, in the form of a screw, to replace teeth lost due to various reasons. Implant is a treatment method that provides the opportunity to place the prosthesis closest to the natural teeth in terms of functionality and aesthetics. Implants are very durable and suitable for the person’s tissue. It is a comfortable application that does not cause any discomfort in the mouth after a properly performed implant treatment.

The first of the advantages of implant treatment is that patients who have lost only one tooth are treated without any support from their neighboring teeth, without any intervention to other teeth, as in other treatment methods. People with missing teeth in the lower or upper jaw may have to have their other healthy teeth cut in order to have a bridge treatment. In the implant, however, a much more aesthetic and comfortable tooth is obtained with the procedures applied only to the lost tooth without the need for this.

Why Choose Dental Implants?

There are 2 treatment alternatives in the treatment of tooth deficiencies. The first is traditional treatment (crown-bridge, veneer or full and partial dentures, palate prosthesis), and the second is the implant treatment.
In crown-bridge/veneer applications, healthy neighboring teeth are cut and reduced so that the prosthesis can be placed. This shortens the life of the cut teeth. In the case of full or partial dentures and palatal prosthesis options, later on, melting of the jawbone and a decrease in prosthesis retention are observed.
The reasons for choosing the implant are:

  • It provides a great advantage both functionally (chewing) and aesthetically.
  • Since healthy teeth are not cut, the teeth will last longer.
  • Thanks to the implants, the jawbone is protected and bone resorption is prevented.
  • As with natural teeth, the sense of speech, eating and taste is provided.

There is no age limit in implant applications. Implants can be applied to people whose growth and development have been completed.

What is the Purpose of Implant Treatment?

The purpose of the treatment;

  • Placing a functional and aesthetically appropriate tooth in place of missing teeth in the mouth,

  • It is to make the patient feel better both psychologically and physiologically.

In case of loss of one or more teeth, if there is no tooth left in the mouth, implant treatment can be applied. How is Implant Application Made? Gebze Implant Treatment

The initial step is to plan the treatment process. The treatment plan is determined according to the patient’s needs and the results of the examination.

  • For implant application, local anesthesia is first applied to the mouth and gums.
  • A planned hole is drilled to the size of the tooth where the implant will be placed.
  • The implant is inserted into the hole drilled into the jawbone. Due to the application of local anesthesia during these procedures, the patient does not feel any pain. However, it is normal to feel slight pressure during the insertion of the implant.
  • Temporary teeth are placed on the implant so that there is no abnormality in the appearance of the teeth until the next treatment session. During the period when these temporary teeth are attached, the underlying implant fuses with the jawbone and prepares the ground for the permanent teeth to be attached. In an average of 2-3 months, temporary teeth are replaced by permanent teeth, permanent teeth are attached to the patient’s mouth.

How long does the implant treatment?

The duration of this treatment varies from person to person. of the person;

  • To the treatments that he had previously had about oral and dental health,
  • Jawbone structure,
  • It varies according to the quality of the jawbone.

In the pre-treatment examination, your dentist should tell you an average process according to the condition of your teeth and mouth, and treatment planning should be made.

How Long Do Implants Last?

There are various factors that affect the life of an implanted tooth. The type of implant your dentist will use, the implant brand, affect the usage period of the implant.

It is possible to use an implant that has been well taken care of together with the patient’s general health status, care for the implants, and oral hygiene, for the same period of time as the person’s own teeth.

What are the types of implants?

Implants should be performed in accordance with the person’s mouth structure and tissues. What are the types of implants that can be applied to individuals?

  • Endoesseos Implants

The most commonly used implant type in dentistry is endoesseos (internal bone) implants. They are applied inside the jaw bones. This type of implant, which we encounter most frequently, is also called endosos, endosteal implant. This implant type is also divided into three as Cylindrical implant, Screw implant, Blade implant.

  • Subperiosteal Implants

Surgical procedure is performed in subperiosteal implants, the jawbone in the mouth is removed. After this surgical operation, the implant is prepared by taking measurements from the removed jawbone. The materials used in subperiosteal implants consist of thin and light metal alloys. It is applied directly on the bone under the bone membrane called perios. It is in pieces that rise from the gums to the inside of the mouth. In this type of implant, it must be on the alveolar bone. The purpose of this is to spread the pressure felt during chewing to the jawbone.

  • Transosseous Implants

Transosseous implants are a type of implant placed along the bone and used in patients whose bone length is not sufficient. Transosseous implants applied in 1973 are not used much today. Since its application is more difficult than other implants, it is not preferred much. It is applied under general anesthesia.

This type of implant is applied with titanium dental implants produced in the form of mushrooms. The implant type, which was first applied in 1943, is a treatment method that is not preferred much today.
